PRACTICAL NEUROTHERAPY
ABOUT NEUROFEEDBACK
Our brain absorbs millions of stimuli every second. When dysfunction comes from our senses outside of our body, our brain usually knows what to do with it. But when dysfunction is inside of the brain, like too high or low blood flow, genetics or trauma, the brain doesn't "see" this information or know where to correct. Neurofeedback brings the information to the screen so the brain can take it in through the senses and can identify where the dysfunction is.
We are at our best when we are calm and alert. Neurofeedback is an effective, non-invasive brain training that encourages resiliency and efficiency. Also referred to as EEG Biofeedback, this type of neurofeedback addresses brain dysregulations such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
What do I expect during treatment?
Will I feel it?
We connect electrodes to the scalp in specific spots, targeting the location of the brain in need of training based on your intake questionnaire. You sit comfortably and watch a screen - you will feel symptoms as we find your brains frequency, but it is not unpleasant.
04
How many sessions will I need?
We let your symptoms be the guide. We are breaking habits the brain has formed, and some brains need more training than others.
Children generally need less, as their habits are not as engrained.
07
Are there different types of Neurofeedback?
What we do at Practical Neurotherapy is called the Othmer Method. It is an individualized one-on-one treatment that adjusts frequencies for each brain type. The NeurOptimal Method is an automated system that uses the same protocol for all brain types.
02
Do you have different locations?
The main office is located in Battle Ground, but we can serve you from Yacolt, Davenport, or Tri-Cities, WA at this time. If either of these alternate locations is preferred, select the appropriate technician when signing up on wait list.
05
Will neurofeedback affect my medications / other therapy?
What we often see is medication and talk therapy are more effective with neurofeedback. We always recommend telling your doctor that you are doing neuro to avoid becoming overmedicated.
08
How do I know if I'm a fit?
Neurofeedback is beneficial for everyone! While it is not a replacement for prescribed medicine, it stabilizes your brain, helping to alleviate a wide range of symptoms! It can improve mood regulation and support conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD and PTSD. It can aid in addiction recovery, improve sleep disorders, manage chronic pain and migraines, and even reduce seizures. Also, it’s a valuable resource for autism, traumatic brain injuries, learning disabilities, memory issues, and cognitive decline.
03
How often do I need treatments?
When you start, we suggest one treatment a week. When symptoms subside, we discuss
moving to every other week to train your brain to 'hold' the new patterns. then again, we will discuss moving to once a month.
Each session is about 35 minutes, but we reserve 50 minutes per client.
06
What is the cost?
The initial consult fee is $149 which includes first treatment. Standard sessions are $115.
We do not take insurance - however, we can create a superbill, which you can send to your insurance and see if they will reimburse.
Many insurance companies are reimbursing, which is so exciting, and we certainly recommend trying!
